physician can treat a patient without establishing a physician-pateint
relationship, which requires a face-to-face patient encounter. Any
physician can offer another physician a second opinion - that what Doximity
is for - without being subject to any legal liability.
Ultimately, it's your choice whether you want your mom to visit US in person
. If it was my family member, I would choose to get her over here for the
PET/CT and to be seen by MSKCC MDs, esp. since it appears that the
radiologists' at different hospitals disagree with each other.
With ObamaCare Marketplace, you can buy health insurance for her with
reasonable price even with her pre-existing condition. Picking a great
surgeon is probably the most important factor in treating any potentially
malignant tumor with great success.
This is the kind of stuff you cannot risk for misdiagnosis. You want a
specialized cancer center with the best pathologist, radiologist, surgeon,
medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and equipped with cutting-edge
medical devices. 301 Hospital is not a specialized cancer center. Their
quality of care cannot possibly be on par with MSKCC. Mayo is good, but in
my biased opinion, it still cannot compare with MSKCC (NYC) or MD Anderson (
Houston).
Have you emailed Dr. Huang about her case yet? You will often times get
different answers from calling the staff (who will cite you their official
hospital/clinic process) than directly contacting the MD (who is more
interested in getting to the nature of the case).
Whatever you decide, wish you and your family best of luck! |
