They are good for control Af, but many side effects like hypo/
hyperthyroidism, pulmonary problem. And it is very hard to stop it.
on the other hand, try to find out what is causing the Af, some of them is
curable.
ablation is another option.
Another important point is the prevention of embolism, as stated above by
