Does everyone have to pass Board Certification after finishing Residency? If
not pass, can they still practice?
Thank you for your input! |

If you can find a job, later is better, imho. 10 years later you have to
recertify the board.

k*******0 发帖数: 355 | 3 Thank you. My question is actually-For gradated physician (finished
residency), do they have to be Board-Certified to keep their career for ever
? |
A*******s 发帖数: 9638 | 4 Theoretically you could practice medicine as long as you are board eligible
and have a mecial license. I know a physician who practiced many years w/o
board certification. But in reality, your job requirement and insurance
requirement may force you to get certified. I am not sure if there is any
mandate for medical license in some states, but regulation seems to go that
way in the future. Here is an article you may be interested:

r*****2 发帖数: 309 | 5 The new rule is that you have to get certified 7 years after graduation,
otherwise your medical license will be taken away and you have to go back to
have extra residency training to be able to practice again. |
k*******0 发帖数: 355 | 6 Thank you for your info. Where does the new rule come from? |

and I answered. I didn't make the
rule, better check your own speciality board. You can choose to ignore this
rule and take the consequence by your own risk. The rule is changing every
year, you never know what is gonna be the next.
