发帖数: 12932 | 28 说说这个gifted class吧， 这里gifted class分两种， 一种是classical academic，
主要注重advance study， 另一种是gifted school， 主要注重学生的special
talent. 我们想让她去的是属于前一类。 是州里的No.1, 它的curriculum是2 year
ahead. 绝大多数学校的gifted class, 如果有的话，是one year ahead. 我们专门去
参加过他们的open house, 觉得难得的是他们的老师都很passionate. 是open
enrollment, 100% test-in, 就是都得通过考试， 没有neighborhood的学生。60个
slot只有10个是test score only, 就是报这个学校的前10名自动录取， 其他的就得看
运气了， 他们有一个很复杂的rank system, 表面上的说法是considering your
social economical status, including race-具体是不说的。今年的有超过1000人报
名， 竞争非常激烈。
感谢LD，她教小孩真的很有耐心， 我主要就是当黑面考官， 管evaluation. 看看她哪
里需要加强。课本就是网上大家说的那些， 但让一个四岁出头的小孩学下来， 理解，
最后能举一反三， 真是不容易。准备考试也花了些心思。 主要针对小孩怕生的心理
， 先让一些熟悉的朋友， 后让一些不熟的朋友， 最后让完全的陌生人来模拟考官，
嘿嘿， that's my idea. 让她读一篇文章， 然后让考官针对文章问问题。 it seems
to work the wonder. She became more and more comfortable speaking in front
of stranger. speaks loud and clear, answer questions naturally, including
saying "i don't know" with ease.
Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I don't know if that school will
necessarily do the magic, but taking on a project, learning, preparing and
executing at the early age helps her build the confidence and learn the
essentials of effectiveness. that's always a good thing. |
