doing observership here (not externship).
I was told it is totally free, and you need to email the IM program, waiting
for a
couple of months if there is any available spot. Attending discusses cases,
asks questions, you may have chance to present cases. Now sure whether you
can get letters. I believe it is a very good opportunity to gain some
inpatient exposure if you want to apply for IM residency.
If you can find externship in hospital, it is even better.
