VictorG, bythesea, and many others...
When Lebron James first came to NBA as the No.1 pick with unprecedented buzz
, he said "I consider myself a pupil of this game and I want to learn". This
is exactly what every coach, general manager, or owner wants from their
star players, no matter how good they are as a high school or college basket
player
It is also exactly what every program director wants in their residents.
No matter what great USMLE scores you have, what fantastic school you
attended, or what publications you have, everyone comes to a program with a
huge learning curve ahead. You will need to learn from everybody- nurses,
attendings, your seniors and also you co-interns. You come to learn, to work
you butt off day in and day out.
It is not only how good you already are, but how much better you are hungry
to become
And you will do whatever it takes in order to be there.

Do you really take other people's feedback? especially negative ones and
learn from your mistake?
Last year, one very smart girl who has several years' residency experience
in China was asked: "have you ever make any medical mistakes?" Her answer
was :"No. Never". After the same question and answer were repeated again, it
became obvious that answer did not received well by the interviewer.
===
Many of us, including me, copied "I am a team player" in PS...and want to
appear like that:)
At interview, when you talk about your accomplishment, do you appreciate
other's help? Do you really listen to the person that sit across the table
without dumping all rehearsaled answers on him/her? Do you have a whole
picture view of how the medical system works and you HAVE to work with
others to have things done? | s********B 发帖数: 17 | 2 Really well said. Thanks for sharing!

Teamwork is super important for physicians. No matter how smart u are, or
humorous, if u always gain without contributing to ur group, it will be hard
for u to survive from residency in the long run. | | | r*****1 发帖数: 805 | 11 Well said.

You cannot say it frankly without appropriate situation. Appraising others
is a very good way to appraise yourself.
