yf 发帖数: 272 | 1 There are two types of phone interviews
1. Phone interview with recruiters. This is a screening process. They
usually ask you why you want to go to their place. You have to convince them
that you like the location. They need to believe you have a "tie" to this
place (Family, spouse. used to go to school there, etc). Recruiters also are
interested if your spouse will need to find a new job if you are relocating
. And if you have kids, and how old they are. Visa status is another issue(
H1 J1 Citizen, Greencard). Whoever holds J1 visa needs to start job hunting
very early because only 5% of the jobs sponsor J1. H1 sponsor is hard to get
too.
2. Phone interview with hiring person(head of a group, director of
department, etc): You need to convince them that you are very interested in
the job and why. You need to show that you are fit for the job. Questions
you want to ask are: Why is the job created, how stable the group is, what
is the patient load, how may hospitals they go to, any outreach clinics to
go. Don't ask salary or benefit.
For academic job phone interview, you need to talk about your research, why
you want to go to subspecialties(why breast, why lung, why GU, GI, etc).
Your career goals. Questions you can ask are: What is the split of patient
care and research, what kind of research you are going to do(clinic trials
or bench). What support you can get.How much protected research time you can
get. What is the requirement for grant application, etc. Don't ask about
salary or benefit. |
