发帖数: 82 | 1 经常看到家属PUSH。我能理解家属的付出和期望，但是一个人是否做医生是TA本人的意
愿和努力。下面考场晕倒事件，我想人的第一反映应该是陪丈夫去医院体检，然后就是
帮他减压。作为家属一直问考场失误如何弥补，好象他闯了滔天大祸，需要家属来挺身
而出。有没有想过他的晕倒和你给的压力有关？他也是40多岁的人了，请尊重他一下。

husband's dream, i have been supporting him. I think I did push him
sometimes because whole family support him. I make the most incoming for the
family and do all the housework, The kids can't play with dad because he is
always busy. If i say i didn't push him, that is not true. I am also really
worried about him. I want him quit, but he is determined to continue. After
a serious talk with him, I start to look for help here to see if we can do
something to make up the bad effect. He never comes here.
Actually I am not sure if i am doing the right thing by supporting him for
the board.

是你劳工的心理状态，古有范进中举。。。
考试中心不会取消纪录的，不然这类要求就太多了

Actually I passed step 1 and 2 two years ago, although the score is not very
high. But I decided to stop since I really don't want to sacrify the family
and kids for myself. My job is more stable than my husband. I really enjoy
being with kids and supporting my husband for his dream. If he succeed, I
would be more happier than my own success.
But now I start to doubt if I made the right decision.

money than he did. He is smarter than I and worked harder than me, but he
didn't have good luck and have been struggling since he came to America 12
years ago. By supporting him for the board exam, I really want to see him
succeed and help him rebuild his confidence. I think I am too traditional. I
like to be with kids and support husband. But maybe this put too much
pressure on him.
Sorry for not typing Chinese. I am at work and i can't teype chinese on this
computer.

发帖数: 195 | 9 最好在理想和现实之间找个平衡。 理想谁都有，现实却是不是每个人都能看清楚或愿
意去看清楚。 象这样yog的cmg想match，最好有个connection，当然也不是必需的。你
有了connection，你就心理放松，就能考的轻松。 如果没有connection，就是学的话
，压力也会很大，谁也难保证步步都考的好，很容易crash.
至于考与不考，首先还是要认清自己，别人再成功，跟自己也没啥关系。如果你有很强
的connection，认识pd，fail过一回要是说明原因的话，也不是一点机会都没有吧？你
要是有connection, good english, 学习能力强， 没经济身份压力，open
personality，当然要考，而且成功的机会还是不小的。 否则的话，尤其是老cmg，要
想清楚。 |

发帖数: 82 | 11 如果你也考了STEP1，2，很难想象你们家这几年是怎么过的。佩服一下你们的毅力。如
果考BOARD是你LG的选择，更佩服你的毅力。你是受了两遍罪。不知说什么好。不管怎
样，我不认为一次的考试能决定一个人的命运。（何况成绩还没出来呢。）好好调解一
下身体和精神。再接再厉。Don't give up. He will get there.

I can certainly understand how you feel now. It is so naturally for you or
anyone else to expect something in return by having been giving so much for
such a long time. There is nothing to blame you being "pushy" to your
husband.
The problem is: is it really worthy of doing this?
Another thing for your husband to think about: build one person's dream upon
others' pain the thing itself is not quite good a try. He has his
responsibilities of being a husband and a father. If he doesn't do well in
his current role, not earning as much as you do, not spending the same
amount of time as you do, not doing the same amount of housework as you do,
then the first thing he should start to do is to support the family as much
as you do, NOW, not in the future. Nobody could predict what will happen in
the future.
就是不明白, 为什么为了未来不清不楚的所谓前途, 害得老婆孩子陪绑, 现在就跟着一
起受罪.
没结婚, 没孩子, 怎么折腾自己都行; 任何时候负起自己目前的责任才是正经.
现在的事都搞不定, 以后难说. 所有正常的投资都是基于目前的状况预测以后的可能性

。也不了解他家的具体情况，怎么能轻易论断人家的理想。他们一家现在正在难关之中

Actually, you shouldn't be that desperate because you both have jobs.
I know a person who worked in a lab as a postdoc but asked by his boss to
leave within a week. He has three children and his wife does not work. He is
an old CMG and could not get a match for several years and he has to find
one postdoc after another.
Life is not about how much you earn or how much you contribute in science.
It is about happiness. We entered a terrible research field, which lacks the
labor protection and is a slavery in nature. What can you do about it ?
Switch and move into a more fair job market. If the clock could go back, we
all would start USMLE earlier, as early as the first year after medical
school.
Take it easy. Take some time off for Cuba or Carribiean or Europe. Life is
beautiful.

view as a current resident, I really don't think he stands a good chance.
Old CMG is the biggest disadvantage in this game. Then a failed or
incomplete step1 (3 blocks not done is almost a gurantted fail, sorry), the
greatest possibility is his application will be
screened out automatically, even no chance to explain what happened during
step 1 exam. Now, the competition is more and more fierce, seriously think
about it. Dream is dream, reality is reality. I am not intending to
discourage him, just giving him some cruel facts that people don't like to
talk. But eventually you will have to face it. 40s is really old to get back
to medical training unless you are fresh out of medical school. Sorry about
that. |

征路上了。45年，就该投降校长了。凡是没有绝对。40老不老？ 比50还年轻。别以为
40以上就没用了，你不到四十，连总统都不能当。
楼主尽管努力，fail后来又match的不比99落榜的少。坚持到底，肯定是胜利 |
