发帖数: 299 | 1 This year tulane school of medicine has an innovative ph.d. to m.d. track.
In this track, students will enroll in Jan 2013 and take 31/2 years to
graduate in 2016. I applied and was interviewed about one week ago.
yesterday I got the acceptance letter, but it required me to either accept
or decline in one week. I sent in my most my secondaries in early and mid
Aug, still some to complete. I have 8 more interviews to attend so far, one
very good school (also my dream school, but the interview is MMI, which is
scary for me), 2 very decent schools and others are kind of mid or low tier.
I also really wish I can get a interview invite from my phd school, although
I know it is hard.
Should I accept the offer?
the prons is that (1) I can graduate one year earlier,which is very
appealing to someone who is already older.
(2) I won't risk not getting in anywhere this cycle, the success rate for
medical school interview is low. I am not very confident because I know my
communication skill is not good.
the cons are 1) I lose the opportunity to attend better schools
2) the reputation of the ph.d. to m.d. program is uncertain because it is
experimental, this ph.d. to md is also the only program of this type in this
country.
3) New orleans is not a good location for my family, but I am not expecting
to choose a good location when applying to med school.
Any inputs?

curriculum是怎样的？
PhD qualify 没通过的话，就不能继续念MD了？当然一般都能通过。

earlier. the main thing is the school is low tier and the program is
exprimental, meanwhile the chance to get in a good med school is low and
risky.

md-phd program应该都是免medical school学费的吧，如果这样的话，还是很值得考虑

Tulane毕业的以后去top 10做住院医的太多了。
俺fellow面试过NO的那两家医院。Tulane和LSU school of medicine离的好近。Tulane
肯定比LSU好多啦。
你以前没在NO呆过？哪里适合居住，哪里适合纸醉金迷竟然不知道:-)

to get to a good area when applying to med school.
My application is not very strong.

Tulane还有个称呼叫Julane,好像，Jewish喜欢上的学校:-)
