1. 62-year-old man with hoarseness
2. 67-year-old woman with neck pain
3. 11-month-old girl with seizures
Is there somebody who can share the detail of these cases with us? thanks | m**********o 发帖数: 24 | 2 I only have the DDs and workups for these 3 cases and also for the 4 more
mini cases. I got them from the USMLE forum.

Hope this helps. | r********1 发帖数: 2 | 3 Hoarseness is generally caused by irritation of, or injury to, the vocal
cords. T
Hoarseness can be caused by a number of conditions. The most common cause of
hoarseness is acute laryngitis (inflammation of the vocal cords) caused by
an upper respiratory tract infection (usually viral), and less commonly from
overuse or misuse of the voice (such as from yelling or singing).
Other causes of hoarseness include:
benign vocal cord nodules or polyps,
gastroesophageal reflux (GERD),
allergies,
inhalation of irritants/smoking,
thyroid problems,
trauma to the larynx/vocal cords,
neurological conditions (Parkinson's disease and strokes), and
cancer of the larynx, lung. |
