『前言』
与澜静初识于5/22/2011 纽约 ACAP 会议。
当时的自己还没有从Match失败的打击中回过神来。 前路渺茫，无所适从，几近放弃。
第一次参加CME的活动，老刀的“you are not old; you are experienced" 给了我观
念上的改变，Dr.Eng 的面试讲解让我茅塞顿开。会后的闲聊中站在身边的澜静得知我
也申请病理，主动提出“let me have a mock interview with you" . 15分钟里，他
就我的“tell me about myself" 回答提出的批评和建议，对我犹如当头棒喝， 让我
第一次认识到我精心准备的面试答案是多么的不成熟， 第一次意识到我失败的根源，
也第一次发现了战胜自己“learned helplessness" 的武器。
会后给澜静写了感谢邮件， 澜静很是鼓励我， 也一再表示如我有需要，他一定会帮助
。 在那样极度绝望和无助的时候，他和其他前辈的帮助鼓励一如寒夜中的炉火， 给了我
继续走下去的希望和勇气。
会后注册了麦地ID,第二周就开始了互助组Match和语音矫正的的周会。9月申请拿到面
试后其实一直想找澜静咨询，却总不好意思打扰，直到看到澜静面试班的帖子和由此而
起的轩然大波。
我是怀着信任并感激的心情报了名，也希望用自己的参与给他一份微薄的支持。会前的
一周拿到了pre-match,但并没有取消注册， 因为我相信我还是可以跟澜静学到很多，
更好地适应明年的住院医培训。。。。。。

1. 场地： Marriott @ Newark Airport， Meeting Room at 1st floor。 宾馆和会议
室的条件应该是最顶级的。
宾馆：priceline 上头天定房只要$80。 离曼哈顿20-30分钟车程，附近听说有shopping
center and OUTLET.其实是个不错的NYC family vacation 的驻地。 宾馆内有室内泳池，
健身房，免费停车。如果带家属，孩子爱人在培训时都有地方消遣。宾馆到B停机楼走路5分钟。如果
嫌宾馆的餐厅贵（$18-25/person)。午晚饭都可以在停机楼那里买。
会议室： 12人，圆桌型的布置保证每人都和大家有面对面的目光交流。

MITBBS上的轩然大波就是为了每个人的这$256.80的收费，其实我认为大可不必。
我的任何一个朋友如果给我帮了这样大的忙，而且也给我机会去感谢他，我想请他吃饭的花销也不会
比这少，过后我们还都要去gym 多 work out 上几小时去消化掉 ：）我不是有钱人，但受人滴水
恩当以涌泉报是我自幼受到的教育。
把早就计划好的人情花销变成专业的费用；自己以前不好意思开口的事情，变成了澜静尽心竭力的专
业服务；我真觉得太值得了。而且下次澜静路过我的城市，作为地主，还是要请他好好的吃一顿健康
的大餐地 ：）

优点1：小班教学
10 people is the perfect class size, since both individual attention and
group diversity are vital to the success of the coaching class.
> 10 people, each one may not get enough attention or personalized
suggestion from the tutor.
< 10 people, the group may not have enough diversity to stimulate to
best, out-of-the-box thinking.
建议：I know it is hard to cover all the costs with less people,
especially with invited speakers, so next 2013 match season, may think
about have classes , with different sizes and fees
优点2：准备充分。
这点相信大家从上贴中已经充分体会到。
优点3：非常个人化。
会前一周澜静就让大家把简历PS发过去。培训当天发还给每个人评改过的简历PS，很多都改得密密麻
麻，很让人感动他的尽心。因此，在评点每人面试答案时，澜静的建议都非常符合每个人的背景。
优点４：组员互动极好
我想这是跟这期班的特殊背景有关系地。 能在麦地为此班砖头粪水纷飞之际，仍然报名的，都是性情
中愿意信任尊重他人的。以我的人生经验，愿意信任尊重别人的，多半是自己行端思正，能以己度人
的人，所以肯分享好相处。被以信任尊重相待之人，也愿意展现出最好的一面回报这份信任。所谓：
彼以国士待我，我以国士报之；彼以众人待我，我以众人报之。
信任,尊重与分享是这期班的闪光点。
优点5: 从提高对美国文化和医疗系统的了解，在根本上提高面试能力，而不是只关注于速成。
这世上虽有捷径，但真正的强者是：大巧不公，重剑无锋
优点６：alumni network
澜静这个建立alumni network是一个非常天才的主意。CMG与AMG相比最大的弱势就是没有我们在
国内几代人或自己从开裆裤时就攒下的人脉， 尤其对像我这样非名校毕业的。 美国学生不仅有
network, 而且从小就接受培养应用network的训练。 我所在的大学这一季有3-4“how to use
network " 的培训。 建立有良好组织，紧密联系的CMG network,是惠及几十年几代人的功
德。
总结： 几乎全部参加者在课后evaluation 中都选择了 “very satisfied" & " will
highly recommend to friends"

可以再提高的方面：
１。 希望明年可以有更多的班，最好３－４月就有一年的培训班的时间表。这样申请者可以有更多
的选择，还可以提前计划
２。 在１０月前的培训如果是两天，会效果更好
３。 听说澜静今年邀请的guest speaker都无法成行，我不知道仅仅是因为时间仓促无法安排，
还是因为麦地对收费培训的议论而心存顾忌。 如果是后者，希望我们大家能够用我们对收费培训
的认同和支持消除这些前辈的顾虑。 你们的参与是惠及后人的善行！
４。 culture assimilation is a long term project, so 他he best way to
immerse trainee into American culture is to have multiple classes
/serials from March to March, in form of online meeting三, covering
every aspects of American Culture in office , such as email etiquette,
small talk, business lunch, grammar clinic ........
５。 ７个小时的培训，大家都太专心了,lunch break 都用来交流了，居然没人去买饭吃饭，
都吃的酒店提供的点心。下次能否多收些午餐钱，给大家统一送饭，或者派个代表出去买午餐？

to put toooo much information in it that cause interviewers the BIG
diffucuty to grasp the most important, distinguishing, and unique
information from you ( not the same as everybody else).
You only have first 5 second to impress the IVer, so put the most important
, distinguishing, and unique information that he could not hear from
everybody else in the first 5 seconds. If he is interested in any of the
details, he will ask later to give you chance to elaborate more.....

My action: developed 3 versions of TMAYS : 20 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes.

Thank you and others for the kind feedback on my comment on the other thread
. That was my first bubbling here. :-) I rarely jump into blogs. Yet
recently I found blogging might do one some good, say, to learn how to deal
with some really harsh comments ect... As to about the 'old CMG' post, I
felt the urge to dive in since I have two good buddies who are trying to
give their bids this year, both after a failed attempt from last year. I
hope they will have the highest spirit in believing and focusing on what
they have, rather than the number of the age. :-) One beamed the first big
smile to me when I first arrived at US many many years ago. The other is the
postdoc when I was a grad student who made my steep learning curve to be a
much more enjoyable one. From my point of view, they have a lot to offer to
a team, rather than just delivering the results/service. Mature people seem
do much better on 'GIVE and take' rather than compete head to head to prove
who has upper hand. Mature personality is a charm in my eyes. (some people,
unfortunately, do not show a bit of it even when they turned over 30s or
even 40s. Counting on 2-5 years of age differences as a big advantage and
trying to make a peace with oneself is a bit show of insecurity and childish
:-)
Wish you best luck in your new adventure. I hope the joy will be with you
and your family a bit longer before the new 'anxiety' sets in. :-) Just
kidding, reading your posts I feel like after the ups and downs in the
journey in Medicine so far, you've transformed to be the master to ride the
low waves and coming out into the high waves. Who wouldn't call it is an
abundant life.
