大家都说IM在NYC, NJ, PA的机会最大, 但我看了一下,还是有60%-70%的programs
要求 YOG<10yrs, or even <5 yrs.

here is what I am going to do for selecting IM programs in NY, if you got
your medical degree >10 years ago.
totally we have 55 IM programs in NY.
1) for those programs that have given IVs to CMGs (goodgene's list), you
should DEFINITELY apply! this will constitute >30% of your IVs.
2) for those programs that have ever given IVs to IMGs (from usmleforum.com)
, you should consider applying for them. It is worth of the money.
3) for those programs that have never been on the IMGs list, you think about
it by yourself. I suggest you save money for the following programs, unless
you have connections:
New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center Program
St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center Program
New York University Medical Center Program
New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Program
New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia-Presbyterian Program
Mount Sinai School of Medicine Program
Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center Program
NSLIJHS-Hofstra North Shore - LIJ School of Medicine Program
New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens/Cornell University Medical
College Program
Flushing Hospital Medical Center Program
Maimonides Medical Center Program
this is just my feelings. do not blame me if it turns out not accurate.
again, the key thing here is that you got your medical degree >10 years ago.

when I say connections, it means at least you should have a LOR from that
program.

1 the iv list here is the most important source
2. looking at the residents each program has to guess whether it is old cmg
friendly
3. do not be afraid of wasting money, apply for many as you can if you don
't have Super good credentials. It isn't the time to save money
4. limitation for graduation years is relative only.

thanks a lot, nabla.
the bottom line is: do not try to save money at this step. when you are not
sure whether or not you should apply for a program, the answer is always "
yes, you should apply".
spend more time thinking about how to present in the best way our
applications to the programs when you apply.
