Normally, the first screen of resident application was done by the
department secretary, the criteria are 1. USMLE score, 2. graduation year ,
I don't think the secretary has time to read hundreds of applications
looking for US clinical experience, or check the number of publications.
The score and graduation year are easy to be set up by computer and
screening.
I don't know how to avoid being screened out by the graduation year, I am a
old CMG , so I want to know the method too.

我在 PhD 第二年的时候也吃过一张罚单。那时候比你还惨。我在做一个 transgenic
mouse model，中间出了点问题，老板威胁我再做不出来就要和我们系主任谈话了。那
时候我每天晚上回家吃个饭就赶紧去实验室继续 subclone 我的载体一直工作到凌晨以后。吃罚单那天就是
老板刚刚又威胁我来着。晚饭过后，出门开车右转的时候看周围没车就没减速直接右转
了。我车后面就是一辆警车。当时 pull over之后，警察说念我是初犯，就算了，不找
我麻烦。结果没几天，一张 375刀的罚单就寄过来了，而且还要另外上驾校。当时真觉
得一个人在美国过得好惨！
后来我也上庭了，而且 postpone 了一次，按照第二次约的时间上庭的时候，警察没有
出庭，所以我 appeal 成功了，也不用上驾校了。
一个人是很不容易，可是事情一件一件做好，结果总会还不错。希望你今年 match 成
功！

我去年申请内科，去了12个interview,最后没有match上，自己分析了一下原因，也请

E. No US MD letter(1 from commercial externship,generic)

我觉得自己肯定败在面试上。来美国三年，一直待在家里，从来没有出去工作过，比较
宅。申请前那段时间一个人带宝宝，没有出去做ob，在家附近做了一个月externship（
其实跟ob差不多），也没有做很好，因为心思就在家里的小宝宝上。平时生活比较依赖
hubby,导致自己不是很独立，面试的时候估计看起来就不自信。
对于这次失败伤心了几天，但是倒也不至于灰心丧气。我比较想得开，失败和成功都是
人生常态。接下去肯定是好好提高自身条件
1.考完step3
2.联系去一个renowned MD实验室volunteer，跟他第一次见面的时候，我说申请失败了
。他说我的英语不错，问我有没有clinical experience。我想clinical experience应
该还是重要的。打算做一段时间volunteer问问能不能跟他ob。实在不行，在实验室跟
人讲讲英语应该也比呆在家好。
3.去外州做Ob或者commercial externship
