PD did not interview me, but only informally chat during happy hour, do I
need to write a letter to her/him as well? How soon should these letter be
sent? If you write an email right after the interview, do you still need a

thank-you letter by mail won't hurt, especially during Holiday Season. Doing
both is a little bit odd, but if you write something different in each
format, it still won't hurt.
You can always remind PD how much you like the program if you do feel that
way. Most people send thank-you messages right away, i.e., within 1-2 days
after interview. |

much as a thank-you letter unless the time frame coincides.

Although that was what I thought:( After I asked around, I found most people
do hand-write a thank you note. Hard to know if it is necessary. I ordered
a bunch of cards, just in case I couldn't find the email address, which
happened once.
