year). But the bill never came out from the committee simply because US
government has no money for this now.
Currently the total number of first-year residency spots is about 24,000.
The number registered for the 2010 Match was 37,556.

sufficient to fill all residency position
by year of 2016 ior 2017.
So ECFMG will close.
possibly, just some AMGs will find residency position in future. |

What is the cause of this significant shooting up of AMG?
What can we do in this situation? Because there will be only roughly 4000

schools. US medical schools and DO schools gradually increase enrollment,
and some new schools were opened or planned to open.
For CMGs:
1) Act fast - don't wait several years to complete USMLE exams;
2) Set a realistic goal - aiming for some good specialties but also have a
backup plan. IM is still the best bid for many;
3) Well prepared - try to improve your credential and build up connections;
4) Apply broadly and go to |

. Some of them also take USMLE exams. 2,965 of them participated in NRMP
Match in 2010. Yes they can apply for any specialties, just like MD students.

比现在的RO1NIH的GRANT高更多了，当然有非AMG，毕业年限长这些无法改变的原罪，
大多数CMG也都是有退路BACK-UP的，只是有这个资格来TRY 一次，是一种福气，珍惜-
努力-无憾
AMG可以抱怨得更多，美国医师市场已经很大方了，

people might not like this kind of posts). Last year we saw some CMG 99ers/
Ph.Ds failed to match, mainly because they didn't have a backup plan, or
applied not broad enough.
Wish everyone will have a good outcome this year.

Are there any other careers we may start with all the above credentials?

future. Unless a big increase on residency funding, the competition will be
increased gradually.
Myself never considered a plan B. The alternative career could be (some of
them require additional course work):
- Housewife/Househusband
- Research/Teaching
- Pharmaceutical Industry
- Pharmacy
- Dentistry
- PA
- Nurse
- Physical Therapy
- Federal Government
- Hospital Administrative Staff
- Medical Information System
- Medica

observer机会的时候，他们的院长就提到他们受到很多医学院的压力尽量少给国际学生
提供轮转、实习机会，这也是为啥official的observer建立这么困难。竞争会加大，但
是短时间内还是有挺多机会，所以大家要加快努力！

，以赢利为目的，这可以从它的宣传力度和普及面看出来，现在国内很多医学生都参与
step的考试就是一个例证，这也极大地增加考好分数的难度。而NRMP对IMG 的match则
会关上，不要被每年match统计40％IMG match 忽悠，加勒比海医学院毕业的现在大多
是native美国人，因个种原因上那读书，中南美州毕业的也很多是美国人，从小在美国
长大，因父母原因回国读书， |

to get matched and to be successful. You do not have to be scared because

are FMGs or old FMGs. I made partner in a private group and made over 500k
last year. So don't get discouraged by this kind of information. It is not
new. NOTHING HAS REALLY BEEN CHANGED. EVERYBODY WILL GET A SPOT IF YOU TRY
HARD ENOUGH. A successful FMG physician.

. Of course if Congress can increase the residency funding dramatically we
all will be relieved.
AAMC made very clear about their intentions:
1) Produce enough physicians by US medical schools, and reduce the
dependence on foreign-trained doctors;
2) The H-1 visa is not appropriate for physicians coming to the U.S. for
education and training purposes. AAMC encourages programs to use J-1 visa.

USMLEworld, no kaplan, few FMG in program (meaning more prejudice), ppl get
matched then went through a more uncertain, difficult path ... so no whining
, go ahead if u like medicine, rather than thinking it is a "easy" choice of
