本来应该是高兴的,因为六月份,本人的"GREEN CARD- NIW EB2"排期就到了.
也许是"五年"的等待, 已经麻木了.
几年来,在保持稳定的工作同时,本人也以"地下工作者"的方式,完成了USMLE STEP1, 2
的考试,拿到了ECMFG 的证书.其间的"艰苦",只有那些有类似经历的兄弟姐妹能够理解.
然而,人生不如意的事情十有八九.
读了一些本坛的讨论,越发感到"压抑".作为一个1988年毕业的"OLD CMG", 本人意识到"
BOARD" 的门对我即使不是关闭的,也是很窄很窄的.
本人该怎么办?继续走下去,还是"识时务者为俊杰".
本人现期待六月份能够拿到"GREEN CARD", 这样才能同老板"实话实说',争取得到老板
的支持,提供一封推荐信.
我也希望能在这里得到一些鼓励,支持,与帮助. 正在查找可以做"内科和神经内科 OB

多的辛酸苦辣，绝望希望交替快把人弄疯了。但是，生活就是奋斗，生活不是放弃。就
我个人而言，我现在不知道我能考什么成绩，不知道最终能不能match.但是有一点我可
以确定，就是当我回首往事的时候，我没有悔意，我一直在奋斗。话又说回来，历史已
经而且正在证明，只要我们付出百分之百的努力，我们的目标一定能过达到。 |

先多句嘴，排期到了，最好也还是要麻烦Senator们去催一下的，可能会快些。我也是五年绿，虽说等的都麻木了，但拿到手的时候还是高兴的全家出去庆祝了下的。
言归正传，你考都考完了，certificate都拿到了，当然要继续往前走了。不试一下，咋就知道不行呢？门虽窄，能挤进去就好。88年毕业，20+ CMG乍一看似乎是难度不小，但你这么多年积累的publications+OB+strong LOR+professional crafted PS+connection(if you have) + a reachable ERAS application strategy。当你自己一切准备就绪的时候，我看不到门不开的理由！ |

老了还做破四道, 就更没老板要了.
一有绿卡就把工作辞了， 全值observe吧。
行医要不成, 只有回国发展, 要末想法弄RO1， 跳公司。

mitbbs medicareer as your information source and hopefully you can get the
answer you need.
As for old medical graduate, the chance is still there for sure. But of
course harder work is needed. From my opinion, strong recommendation letters
from physicians concerning your clinical ability or potential have already
been essential for IMGs, esp old graduates. It might not be the same some

Here are my suggestions.
1.Try to finish step 3 as soon as possible.
2.Try to find OB. One way is to check with your own family doctor and local free clinic. You also can talk to your friends/neighbors to see whether they can introduce you to the nice doctors who'd like to help you gain USCE.
3.Prepare your application package, especially the personal statement.
4.Research the programs extensively to find the right targets fits your own background.

选择。你说的弱势客观存在，所以可能需要更多的努力，通过各种方式建立connection
可能是目前你最重要的。

But Please think about it, what really matters between GR and years away
from graduation.......if I were program director, it would be no brainer to
pick up the new graudates vs one who finished school 20 years ago if the
credential is about same......the application pool is so BIG ( an average
size neurology program received 400+ application every years)..... There are

physician in US.
As I have said earlier, the USMLE was like the MOUNT EVEREST to me. I am
just a mountain climber. The goal is to reach the top. But, the pleasure is
from the whole process to move on higher place step by step.
After 10 years working hard, I can retire now without worrying about food,
clothes and shelter because I have build up solid financial foundation by
investment.
But, I still want to live an active |

Enjoy the process. It's never too late to pursue your dream.
I too am an old CMG and still preparing for the step1. Even though the match
opportunity is slim in the future. I won't regret to choose this path.
Preparing for the test is the best opportunity to study all the subjects
systemically. You won't have the luxury later in practice.
It's a learning, thinking process. The joy is to stread the beads together
from different subjects.

I am an aspiring doctor wannabe myself. But I never stop doubting myself.
