Jalan Washington experienced culture shock when she began medical school at
George Washington University. Not only was she one of the few black students
in her class, but a couple of her white classmates had bought expensive
homes, and could afford an occasional housekeeper.

疗保险是和工作挂钩的,没工作就没保险,没有continued health care。出了问题去
急诊室走一圈并不能解决所有问题。扯什么种族问题。
那天我们这里CME,请来的人是run the bussiness of "assitant housing program",
也就是拿政府补助管理公寓,免费给需要的人提供住房。当时提出的观点是housing是
一种human right,我下面小声说,“yeah, in this country, only working is not
a human right”被一个AA attending听到了,哈哈大笑:P
