Actually I want to know how to positioning me, a chemisty major, into the
polymer processing market. Do you guys really need to understand rheology and
chemistry to simulate the flow in a complex geometry? how did you guys obtain
the constitutive equations and material properties for a complex fluid? Is the
chemistry of fluid important or not important for you guys if you are gonna
process new material? If it's important, why?

etc. Actually this is a multidiscipline process and all kinds of problems need
to be solved. There is always space for improvements in mass manufacturing. I
think a chemistry major could work on raw material. Additives could be changed
in amount or form or fixing process all the time.
Don't try to compete with experts from other majors, better focus on your
expertise.

any simulation work on injection molding. He asked me to some recipe study, I
was bored, that's why now I am working on an totally diff. PHd
Project under diff. advisors. But I still have strong interest in

FEA, design..But I feel in polymer, that all disciplines(chemistry, physics,
ME, CE...) are not well connected with each other. As you said, all kinds of
problems need to be solved together. For example, a good constitutive
equation, the most basic requirment for simulating polymer flow, is very hard
to formulate. The best constitutive equations by now are from the combination
of
macroscopic fluid mechanics and micros
