Just got an FEA opportunity for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) at Houston. The
recruiter said the salary I asked for (100K) is way above the budget the
hiring manager has right now. He ends up offering the other guy with 85K.
My question: 100K is too high for a person with one year experience in
industry + Phd
I will call the hiring manager tomorrow to see what he thinks if I can lower
the salary to 90K.
Any other suggestions on this situation? Thanks so much for your input. I am
frustrated. |

100+在houston当然很高了，对于一年的PHD来说。

有些公司工资高，但是分红低。对于这样的公司，一年经验，如果经验对口，又是PHD,
10万不是不可以接受的。
有的工资普遍不高，但是分红高，可能有的能给工资的20%-30%。怀疑 National
Oilwell Varco 是这样的公司，你的10万大概就太高了。 一年经验，如果经验对口，
即使是PHD，12-13万也高了。 你也许应该到glass door上查查看。 |

发帖数: 1215 | 8 Thanks, glass door review said NOW is paying relatively low compared with
other competitors. From what I heard, the bonus would be any where from 6~12
%, depending on the program the department has delivered. But it certainly
can not exceed 20%. It pays under 90K for Engineer II. Hope someone in NOV
can elaborate this more. Thanks!

有太大的技术含量 做久了就是体力活加熟练工。还是多结合产品 设计 制造 才有价值。

要给100k你呢？你说对不对？你要确定你的工作硕士做不了，你才可能拿到比硕士高的
职位
因为我去年也是1年经验，但是我是硕士，在另外一家大油服干，nov挖我过去就是给了
80几k
所以我的猜测是楼主那个职位不一定要博士的，所以他们不给博士level的薪水，如果
真的是high pressure department的r n d的话，给你12w都可以 |
