Mechanical Engineer IV
Description
Responsibilities
Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex
mechanical problems.
Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects, including development
of key suppliers.
Interface with internal and external customers regarding mechanical issues
for specific project.
Implements concepts for range of difficult product issues and solutions.
Specify, supervise the development of, design, or modify engineering layouts
/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of complex scope.
Generate product specifications.
Provide mentoring for less experienced engineers.
Specify, supervise, or perform engineering analysis of complex scope.
Define, coordinate, perform, and generate engineering test reports. Specify
and review engineering documentation.
May be responsible for the design, development and implementation of custom
mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the
handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies
and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.
Establishes standards across all operational processes.
Serves as technical expert on specialized projects or programs.
Job Specific Knowledge
Applies extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering design, mechanics, and material
science concepts and techniques, including proficiency in solving
engineering problems using analytical techniques and engineering knowledge
such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, measurement control, stress analysis,
Finite Element Analysis, or system integration.
General knowledge of electrical and software engineering disciplines.
Working knowledge of NX (Unigraphics) 3D modeling CAD tools.
Design experience with precision motion control: motors, actuators, linear
guides, and related drivers and controls.
Fluid flow, fluid dynamics, high purity plumbing/valves and liquid delivery
systems.
General knowledge of high performance plastic materials, stainless steel and
aluminum materials, and components and technologies used in the
semiconductor equipment industry.
Knowledge of high performance coatings and chemical compatibility of
materials.
Working knowledge of software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Statics/Dynamics design principles and sheet metal design.
Understanding of product and business requirements .
General knowledge of appropriate materials, components and technologies used
in the semiconductor equipment industry.
Understanding of Engineering Change Order principles and BKM’s for new
product release and documentation control.
Qualifications
Skills
Requires strong skills in change management, problem solving, communication
skills, customer orientation, product technology, global business
perspective, personal effectiveness, project management, team skills and
quality.
Requires knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform job function
such as Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, UGNX,
Oracle BOM, and/or Oracle ECO.
Requires demonstrated ability in leadership
Requires ability to influence other people; ability to act as a mentor, lead
and/or supervise projects
Ability to design for serviceability and manufacturability.
Education
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, and 8+ years
directly related experience, or equivalent.
MS in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical discipline), and 5+ years
directly related experience preferred, or equivalent.
Preferred previous work experience includes mechanical engineering
experience in a development or manufacturing environment. |
