This is last training hike before Catcus to Cloud to San Jacinto, except those that I know and members of previous C2C hike, any one who wants to participate in the C2C on 11/20 must participate in this hike.

point A is carpool point, point B is trailhead.
Ok, this is really peakbagging. We'll bag 4 peaks total including 3
highest peak in San Gabriel: Mt Baldy (10064'), Dawson (9575') and Pine (
9648'). The goal is really to get to Pine and Dawson Peaks. To do that,
either we have to drive all the way to Wrightwood and hike up to them, or we
have to go over Mt Baldy via the North Backbone. In order to make the
sufferings worse, I choose the later going over Mt Baldy. No Pain, No Gain!
We'll hit up ski-hut trail to Mt Baldy (4 miles, 4,000 ft).
From Mt Baldy, drop down North Backbone to Dawson and Pine. Total elevation gain to Dawson and Pine then back to Mt Baldy is just a little over 3,000 ft in 5 miles.
On our way back, we will take Devil's Backbone and bag Mt Hardwood (9552')
which will be on the way (about 300 ft gain), and continue to the the fire
road down to the parking lot.
Total is: 15 miles, 7,500 ft elevation gain.

Yellow -- North Backbone to Dawson, Pine
Blue -- Devil's Backbone to Mt Hardwood, back to our car.

Its always further than it looks until you go to it, then it becomes closer
and closer.
Its always taller than it looks if you just stand there, once you start
going up, then you realize you will be about the same height.
Its always harder than it looks until you actually do it, its always easier
doing it than the hike description looks.
If you believe your self you can do it,, then you CAN!

prepare for a harder trip than other people's description. Nature is always
bigger and more complicated than us and no one knows what could happen.

We need to be mentally be prepared for this kind of hike, physical abilities
comes second in my opinion, once you have the mindset on the mountain, it
is really just the spirit of man continues on.

See this report, this guy did old baldy trail up to Baldy then Dawson, Pine,
9,000 ft gain! I just think this is overkill as a training ;)

I don't think there are much people on this board interest hikes
over 7000 ft elev gain, so lets stick together, if you do 3T + Baldy, then I'll cancel
mine, but make up your mind.

be in the same area anyway.
The thing about my hike is that I don't know the condition of North
Backbone trail, but I have heard it is pretty steep with some exposure, my
main concern is Yanago, Megan or anyone else coming along w/ me can take it.
After a little incident on Ross, I think I have been become worrying
about too much.
Soo, I am willing to join you if you do 3T + Baldy, or old baldy + 3 T, that
way I can just enjoy :)

goal. don't introduce any risky factors into you training sections.
mountains and trails have been there for thousands of years, they

I just figure I can take my goal while doing what I wanted to do is just a
bonus. But in reality it is not that dangerous (no climbing), it is just
the elev gain plus the unfamiliar terrain make seems otherwise, most of
times it is the people that sign up for the hike don't know what to expect (
or I'm not good telling them what to expect).
What do you want to do? just 3T or 3T + Baldy?
