tear and wear. a bed is obviously not one of such things.
you can create significant savings for built-in's because of labor from
measure to build.
cost-return wise, inexperienced amateurs should never diy any non-built-in
furniture. just buy them. for the same quality, there is not much cost
saving. and your diy
stuff is almost guaranteed not to look as good.
if you are however experienced enough and have all the tools to deal with
wood planks and hardwood lumber, go for it. |

我家自己做布艺的床。操作简单，只用电动起子和手动射钉枪（类似订书器）。
King Size， 所有的下来250刀. 3天完工。
布艺可以经常换。

Table saw (~$400) or track saw ($700-800)
Router ($200), and preferably router table ($200-$500)
Random orbit sander ($50)
A work bench or saw horses+top ($100-$300)
Good clamps $40x8 = $320
Power drill $100-200
Miter saw $100-$400
Painting equipment, paint, etc. ($100)
Nail gun + compressor ($200)
If not using plywood, you'll need a wood plane ($300-$600), and possible
more clamps.
And at least 10 small projects to have enough skill to make the bed look
decent. |

other materials and painting, it will be $200-$300 for materials alone.
A bed that looks almost the same (likely much better) from Ikea costs $200-$
