We had this discussion before. I just got an idea:
Install the motorized damper only. Connect it to a 24v transformer. The
transformer is plugged into a remote control receptacle https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Wireless-Electrical-Household-Appliances/dp/

Then the damper can be controlled remotely, although not automatic. How does
this sound?
