google "winterize fountain", basically it is similar to winterize a pool.
you need to disconnect pumps/filters, clean and move to indoor. you should
also blow the water out of the pipes using a shopvac, or add antifreeze to
all pipes. in the case of a pool, you should also shock and add algaecide.
