变化大的地方shrink,moves a lot。不知道northern Virginia算不算冬夏温差大的。
我在HD看到maple cinnamon很喜欢，要不要买这个了。
大家推荐别的species吗？ |

Brasil cherry is one of the hardest wood, but regular cherry is so so,
and american cherry is softer than oak.
It's interesting that oak is out of fashion, though I personally
think it's one of the best wood for flooring. There is a reason it was
the most popular wood for cabinets and flooring.

发帖数: 224 | 7 Popolar得很,有个统计说现在contractors铺的50%、builders卖的35%的地板是red oak,10%是white oak,8% Brazilian cherry, 7% maple，可惜刚才google了半source找不到了
Maple那7%里可能还包括gym啦office啥的，可是我就是不喜欢纹理，不喜欢rustic,喜欢smooth looking和亮色暖色
随之而来的担心是maple太smooth,本色又浅,划痕会很明显

个contractor说保养更重要

俺是听一个朋友说的，用cherry贵是贵了，但回头卖房的时候都能找回来（当然班上会
有人不同意）。
有一点说明一下：cherry的木头颜色会一年比一年深。如果你不喜欢，就别买cherry

I like Cherry too, for its rich tone levels. Under lighting,
different areas have different tone, but the transion is smooth
and elegant.
Whenever possible, I would prefer natural color. So Cherry over
Maple Cinnamon.
Stained color has another quality issue to worry about besides
wood itself: stain quality. If stain is not done well, as often
seen in made in China stuff, you will see ugly spotty tones under light.

i moved from a house with brazilian cherry floor to oak floor
i am much happier now
