The White House said it “would undermine the safety and security of
American families and impede economic growth for American workers” and
result in “a flood of new illegal immigration in the coming months.”
That’s because the bipartisan Senate plan would temporarily suspend
deportations of people who have not been convicted of serious crimes.
The White House’s statement appears designed to halt the growing momentum
