suppose you wiggle the snake at the tail. a traveling wave will then
propagate towards its head. what is the shape of the wave after it is bumped
back and has reached you? just tell me the phase of the reflecting wave: is
it 90, 180, or zero degrees from the original wave ?
at my interview, a geek asked me this question and had me to derive the
equation too...
