MANUFACTURING ENGINEER – MILL PRODUCTS (#3902-MH389)
Our client, a well-established manufacturer of innovative, high-performance
metal products that are used in a wide range of applications and markets, is
searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide leadership to metal
forming operations that include rolling of plate, strip and foil. This
position is accountable for effective production, continuous improvement,
and new product development and is located north of Portland, Maine.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
• Experience in a metal manufacturing setting with a solid
understanding of metal forming processes, such as rolling.
• Self-starter who is able to work with a minimum amount of
supervision.
• Detail-oriented with strong planning and project management skills.
• Sound analytical and problem solving skills, with an emphasis on a
“hands on” approach.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles and practices preferred.
• Strong and persistent drive to deliver positive results.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or
reduce costs using knowledge of metal working processes, assembly and
finishing methods, tooling and production equipment, quality control
standards, or product design, materials and parts.
• Review product routings and assure conformance to specifications for
mill products.
• Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
• Layout and manage the install, and integration of manufacturing
equipment and processes.
• Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to
enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Determine root causes of failures using mathematical and analytical
methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
• Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of
product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and
control.
• Prepare manufacturing proposals and estimates for new products
including tooling cost requirements, and manufacturing resources.
• Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or
procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or
minimize costs.
• Monitor and improve safety in manufacturing operations by addressing
ergonomic and other safety concerns.
• Hands-on equipment trouble shooting and process improvements.
• Produce positive project results through solid data gathering and
measurement tools.
• Create applicable, detailed work instructions and manufacturing
process documents that ensure safe and successful process execution.
• Support the factory floor by providing technical expertise, how/to
information, and hands-on problem analysis/solutions to operators and
technicians.
• Interact with Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Production
departments to make decisions regarding rework/repair of damaged materials
or purchase of new materials.
• Review and approve design drawings for design-to-cost,
manufacturability, quality and compliance.
