Job Summary:
Our lab at Division of Cancer Research and Training uses a wide range of
molecular and biochemistry approaches to understand pathogenesis of
metabolic disorder-associated breast cancer and discover novel therapies
from small molecular agents. As a full-time worker you will assist the team
in performing laboratory and investigative procedures by carrying out
various routine experimental techniques in animal/human cell culture models
of metabolic disorders, inflammation, and cancer. You will collect, verify,
record, and compile data and information in support of research.
Duties:
*Assist with animal/human cell culture and cell culture based screening of
bioactive compounds
*Purify DNA/RNA/proteins for gene expression and Western blot analysis
*Report data to supervisor and the team in a dynamic research environment
*Other responsibilities include assisting with general lab support duties,
buffer and reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, documentation and
data entry.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Basic computer skills and previous laboratory experience
*Familiarity with basic molecular biology and aseptic techniques
*Bachelor's degree in Science, Biotechnology or Medical Technology with 1-3
years relevant laboratory experience in diagnostic immunology methodologies
such as ELISA , immunoprecipitation, gel electrophoresis , and western blots
Required experience:
MTT assay, western blots, RT-PCR, Elisa: 1-2 year

Description
Breast cancer has a high incidence worldwide. The long-term goal of our
studies is to investigate the links between metabolic syndrome and cancer,
specifically focusing on the fundamental mechanisms by which elevated blood
glucose and fatty acids increase breast cancer risk and progression and to
identify novel therapeutic targets and treatment strategies. To achieve
these goals, we use multidisciplinary experimental approaches applying both
in vitro and in vivo animal models, and high-throughput screening approaches
through collaboration with experts in the field.
Candidates must have a strong background in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology
or Medicine and experience in signal transduction research. Individuals with
experienced work with animal models are preferred.
Candidates should have their Ph.D. for no more than five years.
