The Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (abbreviated as FUNSOM) at
Soochow University seeks talented candidates to fill faculty positions at
all levels, including Full Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant
Professor, and Lecturer. Research areas of interest include, but not limited
to:
Organic optoelectronic materials and devices;
Nano-biotechnology and nanomedicine;
Molecular simulations and rational design;
Functional nanomaterials and devices;
Structured functional surfaces and interfaces.
FUNSOM was founded at Soochow University in June, 2008, and is led by the
founding director Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee, an academician of Chinese Academy of
Sciences. The Institute includes a provincial key lab: the Jiangsu Key
Laboratory for Carbon-Based Functional Materials & Devices. There are
already 28 principal investigators (PIs), average age at 35, conducting
interdisciplinary, dynamic, and innovative research in the areas of new
energy, biotechnology, green environment, and informatic electronics. All
PIs have research experience outside of mainland China. Among them, 2 are in
the national “1000 Talents Scheme” and 6 are in the national “1000 Youth
Talents Scheme”. FUNSOM has published > 300 papers in high-impact journals
and obtained > 130M RMB (~ US$21M) in national funding (e.g. NSFC, 863, 973
, etc.) since 2008. Information of FUNSOM and the Jiangsu Key Laboratory for

We desire candidates whose research broadly overlaps and complements
existing areas of interest within the institute. Qualifications include a Ph
.D. or equivalent degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and
Engineering, Biology, Bioengineering, or relevant disciplines, with a strong
background and exceptional research accomplishment. We offer the most
