KAUST's Core Labs are available to support the research of faculty,
scientists and graduate students both on campus and with regional and
international academic collaborators. These facilities are also used in
collaborative research between KICP members and KAUST faculty.
Visualization Lab (Full time position): Windows Systems Administrator

Major Responsibilities – include but are not limited to:
• Develops scripts and tools to report on KPIs and critical metrics
for systems and servers such as utilization, availability, incidents,
integrity, and overall health.
• Collaborate with central IT and other IT departments where
necessary to develop strategies and plans for IT within the laboratory.
• Upgrade and patching process for all Windows computers.
• Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of issues as
they arise.
• Develops and documents regular reports for management
requirements.
• Monitors the system and server environment such as uptime, errors
, and hardware faults.
• Coordinates with other teams and vendors or suppliers for
scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities due to hardware repair,
upgrades, or data center facilities maintenance.
• To work outside of normal working hours, as necessary, on service
impacting maintenance tasks.
• Manage the life cycle (deployment, updates, monitoring) of
systems as required by IT security policy or laboratory management.
• Manages Windows Server security features to protect confidential
information while allowing appropriate access.
• Constantly demonstrates high level of IT security awareness and
performs his daily work in accordance with the Laboratory and KAUST IT
Policies and Standards.
• Maintains knowledge and skills set at high level of currency
• Researches, installs, and tests software updates and patches to
supported applications and various operating systems.
• Researches new technologies and present recommendations on major
hardware and software purchases for the enterprise.
• Updates software and hardware inventory and documents any changes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, Electrical
Engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent experience.
• 6-7 years of IT experience with at least 4 years in Windows
systems administration and operations experience.
• Certified in Microsoft Windows administration.
• In depth knowledge and experience of managing complex systems
environments including:
• Windows Deployment Service (WDS)
• Windows Active Directory
• SCCM and software deployment
• SCOM
• DNS
• Patch Management Planning & Installation
• Managing backup process
• Windows performance tuning
• Writing and debugging scripts
• Strong concepts of TCP / IP.
