Genomics Scientist
This position is based in Shanghai, China.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and validate PCR and Molecular diagnostic assays (including
both blood and tissue biomarkers) for Genomics projects.
• Participate in scientific activities and initiatives in support of
global Laboratory Operations in the Genomics Department.
• Participate in developing/identifying new strategies, techniques and
instrumentation for the development of new ventures in the areas of
Genomics.
• Perform complex troubleshooting and assist in leading initiatives to
solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation.
• Apply and interpret scientific theories, concepts, techniques, and
regulatory requirements in clinical studies and accepts leadership role in
developing scientific approaches.
• Provide consultation to scientific and operational staff on
technical issues.
• Assist with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to
ensure effective scientific performance.
• Provide technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the
lab (i.e., Project Management), as requested, to assist with client issues
and problem solving.
• Participate in client visits when needed.
• Attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS
’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.
Education/Qualifications Required:
Ph.D. in the field of medicine or biomedical sciences, preferably in the
area of molecular biology or molecular medicine or genomics.
Preferred:
Experience in molecular oncology and/or anatomic pathology is a plus.
Board certification in scientific area of expertise.
Work Experience
• Minimal 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience in molecular
diagnostics or related fields.
• Experience with purification of RNA and DNA, nucleic acid
amplification technology (e.g., PCR), DNA sequencing including next-
generation sequencing, and tissue genomics biomarkers is required.
• Experience in the areas of gene expression and/or human genotyping
is desirable.
• Prior hands-on experience developing and validating PCR and
molecular diagnostic assays for various genomics projects
• Experience using automation software would be helpful
• Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and
writing reports.
• Proven track record of method development.
• Experience performing scientific presentations and preparing
scientific publications.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software,
Microsoft applications, and laboratory statistics.
• Effective communication skills with technical staff, business
development staff, peers and clients.
• Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data.
• Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution. |
