Thermal design and cooling methods, measurement techniques
• Analysis of product specification and actual design
• Define applicable test specifications and test set up
• Perform temperature measurements on products.
• First risk analysis for products with spreadsheet tools and hand
calculations
• Estimations of temperature effect of construction changes with
spreadsheet tools and hand calculations
• Thermal tests of (proposed) adaptations and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical skills (for example: using Matlab).
Software
• Computer programs of Windows, thermal Excel spreadsheets.
• Use of conversion programs like IGES.
General
• Understanding of Product Creation Process
• Understanding of and skilled in use of tools like FMEA and Risk
management
• Broad technical base (preferably Lighting Systems, i.e. including
fixtures)
• Good communicator
• Good ability to speak & understand English

For thermal management you need a mix between experimental skills (
performing thermal tests, standard is with thermocouples or IR camera) and
theoretical expertise: strong analytical skills (for example using Matlab)
preferably combined with numerical modeling skills/affinity (for example:
Ansys or EFD).
Areas of responsibility:
Thermal modeling, simulation and measurement for LED Retrofit lamp system
• Build up thermal model, perform thermal simulation
• Design and organize thermal experiments
• Verify and improve thermal modeling by analysis the measurement data
Thermal design for LED Retrofit lamp system
• Core member during new lamp platform definition and feasibility
study
• Interact with system architect, technical project leader and other
team members to deliver the state-of-art thermal design: cost effective, max
thermal performance, reliable thermal stability during lifetime (eg. proper
thermal interface design)Thermal competence
• Support competence leader to organize competence team activity
• Actively participate and contribute to the Thermal Competence team
• Scout, benchmark and bring new/emerging thermal technology,materials
and solutions into our product design in order to improve the performance,
lower the cost, and realize never-possible features
• Maintain and upgrade the thermal measurement capability (equipment
and methodology) to ensure the quality of thermal data is accurate and
reliable
