Software Dev Engineer, Product Ads

Masters degree or PhD in computer science
Familiarity with Pay for performance Ad model and the Internet advertisement
industry
Familiarity with Map/Reduce, machine learning and/or information retrieval
Knowledge of HTTP Protocol, REST, XML, J2EE, JavaScript a plus
Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with search engine and indexing systems such as Solr/
Lucene or Nutch
Product Ads team is looking for an engineer with experience and passion for
development in the following areas: Java/C#/C++ distributed systems, high
performance programming and familiarity with handling large amounts of data.
Key Responsibilities / Expectations:
* Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and ability to apply
it to practical problems.
* Design and build best-in-class software systems - either build on top of
existing services or build from scratch for very high performance.
* Ability to build scalable systems that can scale transparently for very
large volume of ad requests and provide high performance, redundancy, high
availability and usability with low maintenance.
* Team player with ability to work with other Engineers, QA and Support
groups as well as with our business team.
* Operate with pride of ownership, sense of urgency and a passion to build
the best possible solution to a problem.
