Interactive Data has an opening for an Oracle Database Administrator in our
White Plains, New York office. In addition to the following responsibilities
, you must be available via cell phone for 7x24 on-call rotation for support
of production databses.
Install, configure and troubleshoot Oracle 10gR2, 11gR1 and 11gR2 RAC
clusters.
Configure and troubleshoot Oracle Dataguard for disaster recovery.
Work with the Business Continuity Team to refine and test disaster recovery
systems and procedures.
Use Oracle Grid Control for troubleshooting database performance issues
Setup rman backup and restore scripts.
Perform ASM Storage Management and ASM performance analysis.
Need to manage flash recovery area.
Develop/maintain procedures on Wiki to comply with IT best practices.
Participate in SOX and SAS70 Audits
Follow change management policies setup by the company.
Work with other database administrators and system administration staff
regarding configuration, backup/recovery and security issues.
Work with developers, QA and other administrators to develop and implement
standard deployment practices.
Open Oracle Support Requests for all ORA-600 and ORA-7455 errors and apply
patches proactively.
Write Datapump scripts to refresh PPE and DEV environments.
Partition large tables and provide data modeling support to development
groups
Upgrade database from 10gR1 and 10gR2 to 11R1 and 11gR2.
Assist users with problem resolution and answer database usage questions.
Work with users to schedule application of patches and configuration changes
.
Proactively monitor database health and resource consumption.
Participate in capacity planning and benchmarking of application workloads.
Work with Oracle to resolve database outages and oracle problems.
Keep current with latest Oracle technology, and evaluate technologies as
needed.
Develop key automation tools for streamlining workflow and database
management
Qualifications:
The key criteria - significant continuous experience as a senior Oracle
database administrator in a large scale Linux mission-critical environment
where best IT practices are followed and supported large number of
production databases 7X24.
Experience administering Oracle 10gR2, 11gR1 and 11gR2 Clusterware
Experience with migrating databases form Oracle 10gR1 and 10gR2 to Oracle
11gR1 and 11gR2.
Implemented RMAN backups, RAC, ASM and Dataguard in a production environment
. This is a must.
Configured Flash Recovery Area and Flashback database
Configured and used Oracle Grid Control for database monitoring
Knowledge of Oracle Datapump
Experience with Sybase and MySQL
Experience in Database Reorgs
Knowledge of Cost-based Optimizer and SQL Tuning
Experience with PERL and willingness to learn if not experienced.
Knowledge of Database Modeling
Experience Oracle Partitioning
Experience with IT best practices.
Excellent writing/documentation skills
Significant experience troubleshooting complicated database problems
Experience researching and recommending technology solutions
Golden Gate Replication is a plus.
Should be willing to learn and support other database technologies like
Sybase and MySQL
