Team overview and goals:
What we do: GSF obsesses over customers by offering the fastest delivery
option available to Prime Customers with Amazon Prime Now. Not only do we
deliver fast, we own the operation of some of Amazon’s most innovative
businesses including: Whole Foods Delivery, Treasure Truck, Pantry, Fresh,
AMXL, Pickup Points, and Specialty Handling (think delivery/unpack/assembly
of TVs). What we're working on: Big and fast solutions - some of which are
in process but need dedication to scale out and leverage the right tech
stacks. This is mostly ground up development with very limited code base,
about 70% working in greenfield applications. We aren't able to scale using
existing tech teams as the innovation window is tight and the applications
do not have a natural home within other tech organizations. About 10% would
be traditional blocking/tackling activities, fire-fighting quick deploy
solutions. Approximately 20% will be away team work. Tech growth: The
business has grown quickly and GSF currently supports many non-traditional
businesses that started as nimble startups. With the growth, the GSF team
has been leveraging many other tech partners to support, but we have grown
to the point that we require direct tech support. Dave Clark, SVP of WW Ops,
approved a large investment to build out the GSFTech organization in order
to facilitate the team to move faster. The team will be based in Nashville
and Seattle. |
