You don’t have to disclose, but if you do, do not lie. However there are
different ways to rephrase the same thing. For example you are fired due to
job performance. You can say I left the company due to reorganization issue
and unfortunately I was on the list. Technically it was still true statement
, as your boss decided to fire you and hire somebody else, which was
reorganization. On the other hand, if you were the boss, you would fire him,
as the job performance evaluation is subjective. The reorganization can be
anything, so nobody is likely to dig into that. The point is that you are
not lying. You don’t have to tell everything.
Rule2:
It is your right to ask a copy of your background check, so next time you
knows what you can disclose, and what you don’t have to.
Hopefully your misleading salary disclosure doesn’t trigger alarm. If it
does, then think about this way:
Lets say you are the decision maker. What do you do in such case? If the
salary is in your budget range, you probably don’t care much. However if it
is way out of the budget, it can be an issue. Also you probably are
thinking if we hire him, will he stay long enough to do the job as he lowed
his salary in the disclosure?
Hopefully this can help you to be prepared for an unlikely event. Not much
