As a transitional measure, DHS is also proposing to allow a subset of studen
ts already on a 17-month extension to take advantage of the proposed 24-mont
h program, consistent with the requirements set forth in this proposed rule.
Qualifying students would be able to request the balance of the modified e
xtension up to 120 days before the end of the student's 17-month period.

？就是现在17个月的可以再延一次到24个月啊 |

不过要符合新的规定才行，然后还要递交一个Mentoring and Training Plan 。

家说的有道理就要改，打个比方，人家说24个月不合法，2个月才合理因为ABCD原因，
如果说的合理，最后法律可能改为2个月延期，我只是打个比方，之前有个帖子上说了
在那些问题上DHS需要大家的comment，还有怎么留comment大家考古一下，我们周一可
以comment，尽量说合法，要求尽量延长，比如给因为抽签没抽中，OPT快要过期的学生
，如果公司要file H1， grace period可以延期到下次抽签之类的 |

English comment letter? I think the key is something like
"the STEM OPT extension helps the foreigners with higher education
background and top-level talents better serve US industry, academia and
economy. W/O OPT extension, many talents just left this country which is sad"
"They deserve it. Those guys contribute a lot to US industrial, educational
and economical interest."
"I believe the extension from 17 to 24 months will strengthen the power of
US science and technology and boost US economy in the long run"
I think just give some positive comments and being short. Feel free to add
more
