employees, including C level people, participate and have learned that
tossing others under the bus, keeps them safe. They see this as a way to
protect themselves from scrutiny from above. Employees and managers are all
too comfortable talking about what is not working with a person. The 360
review process reinforces this. Those who have been there the longest are
almost soulless with regard to firings. They have fired or seen so many
people let go that they don’t really care anymore.

是要出东西的员工，不管一个员工资历多深，只要几个月工作停滞或者跟不上进度，那
也要走人。所以netflix的工资非常高，就是对以后无情lay off的提前补偿。
大概就是这样，细节可能有误。 |

be fired, with a nice severance package. But it's not a problem for most
engineers, especially Chinese engineers who are typically very good at their
job. Turnover rate is around 20% or lower yearly in my own observation,
which is about
average in this industry, with most people leaving for hot startups
voluntarily. Also there's no fire quota and you are not stacked against your
peers for ranking. As long as you do your job, you'll be fine.
If you are not an experienced Java developer or data scientist, the chance
of being hired is really low though. |
