Sr. Analytical Chemist (Materials Science Laboratory)
Description
This is a Sr. Analytical Chemist (or MSL manager) position working in a
chemical / materials science laboratory. Emphasis will be on the selection,
qualification and characterization or organic materials and identification
and measurement of micro-level organic contaminants. Candidate will plan
and execute projects on new drive materials and will participate in program
teams and engineering projects. Candidate will contribute to drive or drive
component failure investigations involving micro-contamination analysis of
organic materials. Job duties will include the development of new or
improved analytical methods, training and advising other lab staff members
in US and Asia labs, and report preparation and presentation.
Qualifications
• M.S. plus 8 years or PH.D plus 6 years’ experience in Chemistry,
Materials Science or related fields is preferred.
• The preferred candidate will have at least 6 years’ experience in a
high-technology chemical or materials science laboratory.
• Expertise required in gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques and analysis of organic
materials.
• Must have working knowledge of organic chemistry and a variety of
lab techniques such as SEM / EDX, ICP-MS, thermal analysis (TGA / TMA), ion
chromatography (IC) and optical microscopy.
• Must be a strong team player who is self-motivated, possesses
effective written and oral communication skills and has a sense of urgency
to get a task completed.
• Must be able to work in a clean laboratory environment to measure
nanogram quantities of contaminants, use safe and clean lab practices and
work in a collaborative environment.
• Requires proficiency in lab and office data-processing tools. |
