Dear xxx
After a very long debate with myself, I've decided to pass on this GE
opportunity in favor of another offer. I always wanted to work for GE,
especially after I actually went there to see the exciting things you guys
are building.
However, this year I have been lucky enough to have another equally
attractive opportunity from xxx, and my decision has to be based on factors
that are usually of second-order importance. The GE policy on start date is
one of them. Also there are probably more job opportunities in xxx for my
wife when she graduates next year. Andy told me his story when I was there.
When he joined GE 7 years ago, he was planning to leave GE after working
there for 2-3 years if his girlfriend couldn't find a job there. I'm afraid
that would be the case for me if I was selected to join your team.
I'm sure future graduates of our group may still seek employment in GE or
even in your lab, and I wish my short presence at GE did more good than harm
to the public image of our group.
I want to let you know that I really admire the work you guys have been
conducting and I enjoyed talking with all the interviewers. I am deeply
impressed with the seamless relationship your lab has with other labs and
the respect and honesty you treat your team with. I sincerely hope that,
maybe sometime in the future, we would still be able to work together. For
now, I wish you all the best in filling this position with a more capable
and suitable candidate.

去之前我已经签了别的offer,去面试只是为了人生完整,学ME的怎么能不去面GE....

发帖数: 1069 | 9 我怎么看以前版上的讨论说很多人进了Global Research觉得很浪费生命,就是攒攒专利
,做什么东西完全由funding决定,而且地方比较偏。Niskayuna大约1600人,有近1000
PhD, 中国人大概有4,500。去下面的Business Unit不知道如何

Hello xxx:
I want to thank you for selecting my resume from the 1000 resumes you had
received and for making my interview with GE possible. I enjoyed talking
with you, xxx and all other interviewers during my stay and I was deeply
impressed with the kind of work that is being conducted at GE. If it was up
to me to choose which group to join, I would say the projects in your group
are a bit more to my liking. With that said, I have written to xxx that I
would pass on this GE opportunity in favor of another offer I recently
received from xxx. Both opportunities are equally appealing, and my decision
originates from a few factors: one is that GE policy won't allow me to
start before I officially defend my thesis (which means I need to stay idle
for two months), and another one is that my wife would have a better chance
to get employed in xxx.
It is really a difficult decision for me to make and I hope you can
understand my mixed feelings. If the competing opportunity was not from xxx,
or if I received the GE offer before the xxx offer, joining GE would be a
no-brainer because GE has long been my dream company. I hope, maybe sometime
in the future, we would still have chance to work together. For now, I wish
you all the best in finding a more capable candidate for your team. I'm
sure it would be a breeze, given the number of resumes you had received :)

最后说选Boston. 给了Staff engineer position 12万。
从投简历到offer整个过程历时五个月。中间有freeze。因为另一个offer也很好 就放
弃了ge. 奇怪的是 婉拒ge的offer 很难拒。
Boston和cincinnati 的经理都挽留。提出帮ld找工作以及work from home.
ge 的面试我做了presentation. 然后就是和三组manager各谈一小时。都是行为问题。
之后又安排和中层 还有executive engineer 谈了两次。
Ge 的过程太长 太拖沓。非常谨慎 不同级别的层层把关。走到最后也不容易。
往往candidate已经又别的offer了。

多得多，可惜不知道能不能让h1b做

发帖数: 1069 | 14 GEGR里面,没绿卡的挂红牌,有绿卡或以上的挂蓝牌,没有相应的clearance或者export
license,别人什么都没法跟你谈。面我的manager是欧洲人,他拿到绿卡之前手下美国人
干的活他都无权知道。就这样Global Research还是对国际学生最宽松的,下面的
BusinessUnit拿到绿卡之前基本不可能进去。

很好，国内非常认可。
