Key qualifications:
● In-depth experience in deploying or managing mid to large scale,
distributed, customer-facing, e-commerce Linux environments spanning 500+
servers and 100TB+ of storage
● Hands-on knowledge of configuration management tools (familiarity with
Puppet and/or Chef is a plus)
● Clear understanding of Linux internals (e.g. Memory management, File
Systems, Process Management, ...)
● Advanced or fundamental understanding of the following technologies: Red
Hat/ CentOS Linux, SAN, NAS, Virtualization (Citrix XEN, KVM), RPM packaging
, Kickstart, Cobbler, Load Balancers (Zeus/Stingray Traffic Manager is a
plus), Git
● Experience with open-source databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB)
● Extensive experience in scripting and developing automation tools using
Shell (Bash/Perl), Ruby or Python
● Working knowledge of Amazon EC2 infrastructure
● Hands-on Java/Scala/Ruby/Python Software Engineering skills are a plus
● Knowledge of system performance methodologies along with hands on
empirical monitoring
● Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting.
● Solid understanding of DNS, LDAP, SMTP, NFS, SSH, DHCP, HTTP and
other Internet Protocols.
● Extensive experience in systems and storage capacity management,
maintenance, forecasting and lifecycle planning focused on business
requirements.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and change with shifting
priorities.
● Demonstrated ability to engage with business owners to understand their
requirements, develop strategies to support business goals.
● Ability to operate in high-pressure environment and successfully handle
multiple priorities.
● Excellent communication, prioritization and analytical skills.
● B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
● At least 5 years of work experience in high-volume or critical production
environments, including experience with performance analysis, systems
software, and systems architecture |
