position. This is a brand new position set up by the national institution.
This school is trying to meet the national standards.
After the interview, I got the following message from the associate dean:
"On behalf of the Search Committee, I want to thank
you for visiting with us on the phone this week. We feel the conversation
was very beneficial toward our goal of finding the best person for this
position. On August 8, I will be making an initial contact with the
candidates the Committee would like to schedule an on-campus interview/visit
."
Is it a good sign? I asked this question because I am not sure what the
dean means when he said that the conversation was very beneficial toward
their goal. I asked them what goals they want to achieve with this position.
That is a question they struggled.
In reply to the dean's message, I told him "I only asked some questions
to have a big picture such that I can set up the research plan in
cooperation with others. I believe each institution wants the process to be
sound and the result data-based." | g*****k
