Software Engineer - Product Improvement
Reporting to the Technical Lead Product Improvement for EXFO Service
Assurance, this team member will work on server application product
improvement for the BrixWorx family of products.
The individual's responsibilities will include working closely with the
support team in reproducing field issues, isolating problems, and quick
resolution, to increase customer satisfaction. Small feature enhancement of
the existing code base will also be required. Software development is
primarily Unix/Linux & C++.
Must be a team player who likes challenging problems and should thrive in a
small team environment. Communication skills and effective collaboration are
of paramount importance.
Job Requirements:
The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years software development experience
, should have a BSCS or equivalent degree and should have the following
skillset:
• C++ - Experience developing code in C++ and experience writing multi
-threaded applications using C or C++.
• Must be able to understand, bug-fix and extend the existing code
base.
• OS - Must have experience developing applications under Unix or
Linux.
• Database - Significant application-level database experience,
preferably using Oracle 9i or later databases.
Desirables - Strong Perl, Java and shell scripting skills are desirable.
General
Strong software debugging skills. The candidate will be expected to work
under pressure to deliver high quality fixes to operational customers. The
fixes must be reliable and perform well. Must have good communication skills
. The candidate will be required to document root cause analysis and be
process oriented. Must have the ability to work independently and be self-
directed. Will require a can-do attitude to get things done.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor of Science degree (EE or CS) is required.
• Minimum 3 years related experience.
Other:
• Authorization to work in the US.
• Travel minimal (<10%) to India, Canada, and potentially customer
sites.
