Description
SHARP Laboratories of America Inc. is seeking an Algorithm Development
Researcher.
We are looking for an outstanding researcher for our Video Coding Group who
will contribute to the development of next generation video coding
algorithms. In this role, you will be actively involved in developing and
refining technology for emerging video coding systems. These systems aim to
provide twice the coding efficiency of state-of-the-art technology with
specific emphasis on future large size and mobile displays
The position requires a proven record of algorithm development in the area
of video compression with evidence of high-quality research results through
publications in referred journals, conferences or standardization
contributions. We require a Ph D in Electrical Engineering or Computer
Science or related fields. Additionally, we require working knowledge of
state-of-the-art video coding systems, such as MPEG-AVC/ITU-T H.264.
Expertise in the areas of entropy coding, motion compensation or transform
design is preferred, as is working knowledge of MPEG or ITU-T reference
software. Additional knowledge of quantitatively assessing hardware and
implementation requirements of algorithms will also be preferred.
Sharp Labs of America (SLA) is a multidisciplinary R&D laboratory pursuing
applied research on new and differentiated devices, advanced algorithms,
materials and hardware and software systems. Our work targets both consumer
and business applications and includes displays (LCD TV, mobile devices, e-
book, 3D, Ultra HD), imaging, solar energy generation (third generation
photovoltaics (PV), organic PV), energy management, biosensing, personalized
health monitoring, solid state lighting, and printing. We leverage our
multiple research areas with collaborative projects to provide complete and
differentiated solutions. SLA also collaborates with product groups of Sharp
Corporation Japan and its R&D labs worldwide, universities, US government,
and other companies. We are located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in
Camas, WA, which is next to the Columbia River and 15 miles north of
