last year. On the one side, you have a viable business that generated
significant amount of revenue, and one the other side, you have a business
that generated nothing but somehow worth $1B more. How big the bubble we are
getting in the social media web 2.0 type of things. | r****m 发帖数: 1204 | 2 This shows how powerful the "new" economy is and will be when compared with
the "old" economy.
For established businesses such as IBM's server business, the valuation is
typically done with a DCF model (with some other multiple-based methods as
references), it has its own challenges (e.g. how to forecast future cash
flows), but the approach is well established.
However, for the 2.0 type of businesses, I am at a real loss, not sure how
to appropriately value it ... | D*****t 发帖数: 558 | 3 Is Nest really worth $3.2B? Are good-looking thermostats worth $0.9 B more
than computer servers? who knows. But at least somebody is willing to pay
big bucks for tangible goods and services. Kudos to Google and Lenovo. |
