但是我们以前都没有roth ira的账户，现在开的话是不是今年只能roll over进去5000
多？
他退休账户里头有2w多，那剩下的怎么办？ |

If your LD wants,your LD can still put $5000 in, just tell your LD's firm
that this $5000 is for the 2010 Roth IRA contribution.
And then if your LD wants to take his TIAA money out and also put it into
this newly opened Roth IRA account, that's fine, he has the right to do this
and this action is called "rollover". He has the right to rollover the
entire $20000 ish you said into the newly opened Roth IRA account. This

You can convert 401k to traditional IRA, no penalty and no tax for now.

convert the traditional ira to roth ira.
i don't think you can immediately withdraw the newly converted fund.
but i might be wrong.
