Corporate bond seems to offer much better value than equity now, to my un-trained eyes.

but junior than other senior (secured) debts. Preferred shares are very
common in US banks as a way to get funding. I got this just now.

发帖数: 38 | 3 did some googling. found 2 etf that focus on preferred stock: PFF, PGF.
Both have huge exposure to financial sector.
I am gripped by fear right now. I am afraid if bank get nationalized
preferred will get wiped out as well. Could that be the case? They are
falling so much. Is mkt insane? |

wiped out when the US gov took over. I think this is the reason why the
preferred for Citi and BAC (BoA) are so cheap now.
But look at the other hand, goverment screwed up badly when they wiped out
the preferred shareholders of Fannie/Freddie, many of them are small banks
in the US (who are already under stress in the downturn). Also, keep in mind

this stimulus, TARP and all this other craps.
The treasury funding monster acts like a black hole to absorb $$
from all non-gov guaranteed sectors, literally crowding them out of
credits.
Then businesses blow up --> TAX revenues go to the tiolet.

After all, the market is made up of human beings. Two common attributes of
mankind: fear and greed. I know I have both.

The neighbor board is full of ppl buying BAC, not many are talking about WFC
. So WFC preferred may have a better/good chance.
I have no gut to play it. I have to admit I have a lot of fear now.
