s**********n 发帖数: 868 | 1 Any special rules regarding selling in December?
If I sell now and buy back on 2009/1/1, it's considered a wash sale, right?
So do we also need to file all the trading activities of next January in tax
filing to identify a current trade incur wash sale or not? Or do they
simply disallow capital loss realized in December?
Thanks. |

realize loss on Dec 31 and buy back on Jan 1, and don't claim it as wash
sale during this year's tax filing then.
They may punish you after finding it out in next year's tax filing?

I usually mention in brackets that a certain wash sale (amount of loss)
will be applied to a future trade of 1/1/2009. (by the time I file tax,
that trade is already done.)

Planning to sell a little. I don't want to pay capital gain tax this year
with such a huge paper loss.
