assuming you are using win2000 or later.
if DHCP is enabled on your gateway, you don't have to do anything, by default
windows will obtain everything automatically.
if not or you somehow must assign ip manually, ask for DNS, your preassigned
ip and even WINS from your sysadmin, and manually put them into your computer.
